One way to signal in the great times of summer on the Outer Banks is First Friday, an outdoor celebration along the downtown Manteo waterfront on – you guessed it – the first Friday of each month. The first Friday in May 2011 ushers in another season of excitement for all. From 4-8 p.m. you can shop stores filled with unique trinkets and more, eat at local restaurants and enjoy live music on the streets from 6-8 p.m. At night, the music goes into local taverns including Poor Richards and The Full Moon Cafe. There’s an historic inn tour from 4-6 p.m. If you like a little more adventure, try the Kitty Hawk Kites rock climbing wall. For more events in the Town of Manteo, click here for the schedule.
