2011 marks the fourth consecutive year for the Hatteras Wave Jam, a windsurfing competition judged across various competitor classes ranging from amateur to expert/pro divisions. Combined with concerts, demonstrations, movie premiers and perfect conditions, the Wave Jam had great success in 2010 and concluded with high expectations for 2011.
It looks like wavesailing fans won’t be disappointed: for 2011, Hatteras Wave Jam will be featured as the fourth stop in the first annual American Windsurfing Tour! Presented by the organizers of the hugely successful 2010 Pistol River Wave Bash in Oregon, the American Windsurfing Tour will include stops at the best wavesailing locations across the United States and Mexico. As Stop 4 of the Tour, the Hatteras Wave Jam 2011 will feature top national and international touring participants and media attention will be strong as some of the world's best wavesailors challenge the Hatteras Atlantic! Set during the prime tropical season, the likelihood of ideal surf conditions is high which is why Cape Hatteras is considered to be the East coast’s premier wavesailing destination. For 2011, Hatteras Wave Jam will be an excellent stop for the American Windsurfing Tour. Prime wave conditions are likely to provide some of the best action found on the US mainland. Definitely an Outer Banks event not to miss!
