SPLASH-N-WAG! 9:30am at the Outer Banks YMCA. Hosted by the Outer Banks SPCA and the Outer Banks YMCA.
Bring your best friend (or you can help walk an SPCA pet) for the annual Outer Banks Family YMCA 5K Dog Walk followed by our Dog Swim at the YMCA waterpark. Cost is $15 for members and $25 for participants, proceeds benefit the Outer Banks SPCA. All dogs must have proof of current vaccinations (rabies, distemper, parvo virus, and bordetella). No puppies, under 6 months of age, aggressive dogs, or female dogs in season.

CURRITUCK HERITAGE DAY from 12 pm to 4 pm at the Whalehead Club. You are invited to a huge lawn party on the grounds of the Whalehead Club in Corolla to experience the best of Currituck County's cultural heritage with food and fun for all.  Enjoy the award-winning CCHS Marching Knights, antique cars, kite flying demos, children's activities, and local arts & craft booths.This is family friendly event.  Dogs on leashes are welcome.  Admission and parking are free.

NATIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE WEEK at all Sun Realty locations. Don’t be surprised to find our offices decorated and the staff buzzing with excitement this week. Customer Service Week is a national event devoted to recognizing the importance of customer service and to honoring the people who serve and support customers with the highest degree of care and professionalism. Sun Realty will be showing their appreciation to its wonderful staff with a week full of activities and contests. We will also be re-committing ourselves to our core values of providing friendly service and the best values available on the Outer Banks.

OUTER BANKS PARADE OF HOMES. With 22 homes spanning Corolla to Hatteras Island, the Outer Banks Home Builders Association’s 18th Annual Parade of Homes promises a fresh perspective on newly constructed coastal homes. This year’s sampling has incorporated new designs, technologies, green building methods and new product innovations and furnishings. It is a great opportunity to walk through all 22 of the showcase homes covering 121 miles of beautiful coastline while enjoying the beautiful weather fall brings to the Outer Banks. Tickets are $10.00 each and will be sold at businesses throughout the Outer Banks including Sun Realty’s Avon, Salvo, Duck and Corolla offices.

DUCK JAZZ FESTIVAL. Businesses throughout the Town of Duck are joining in to help celebrate the 4th Annual Duck Jazz Festival by hosting a variety of events.

•”Sip and Sample” – Tommy’s Gourmet Market, 1242 Duck Road. From 3:00 – 6:00 p.m., patrons can sample wines and microbrews, as well as various appetizers. This tasting is free.

•”Jazzy Sunset” – The Blue Point, 1240 Duck Road in the Waterfront Shops. Joe Mapp & the Coordinates, 2009 Duck Jazz Festival performers and Outer Banks jazz musicians, will be performing in the outside yard overlooking the Currituck Sound from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. Duck Jazz Festival Co-Host Gerald Veasley will make a guest appearance. Hors d’oeuvres and drinks will be available to purchase at the outside bar. Reservations are required for patrons dining in.

“Oyster Roast & Beer Tasting” – Roadside Bar and Grill, 1193 Duck Road. The event, which will be held from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m., will be in the restaurant’s back parking lot. The popular New Orleans style dance/rock band The Rajun Cajuns will be performing, with a special guest appearance by 2010 Duck Jazz Festival Co-Host Gerald Veasley. The music is free, although there will be a cost for the tasting. Parking will be available at the Duck Town Park’s northern parking lot only (by the playground) until 8:00 p.m.

”Wine & Tapas” – Coastal Cantina, 1240 Duck Road in the Waterfront Shops. Enjoy jazz, wine, and a beautiful Currituck Sound sunset. Connected, Elizabeth City-based jazz band and Duck Jazz Festival veterans, will be performing on the deck from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. The music is free, although there will a cost for the tasting. The tasting is $20 and includes a sampling of eight wines and 10 appetizers. A full menu will also be available.

”Art Show with Chili & Chowder” – Scarborough Faire Shopping Village, 1177 Duck Road. An art show featuring local artist Brad Price will be held in the courtyard in front of Elizabeth’s Cafe from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Chili and clam chowder are complimentary; beverages will be available to purchase.

The 4th Annual Duck Jazz Festival will be held on Sunday, October 10, 2010 at the Duck Town Park, 1200 Duck Road. The Festival starts at 11:00 a.m., with gates opening at approximately 10:00 a.m., and is free to the public.
