The Outer Banks Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation, a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the enhancement and protection of the world’s waves and beaches, and the Sierra Club are hosting an activism event on the Outer Banks, June 26. The event “Hands Across the Sand” is being held to raise awareness about the protection of our coastal economies, oceans, marine wildlife, fishing industry and coastal ecosystems.  Participants will meet at 11 a.m. at Bonnet Street Beach Access in Nags Head, NC. At 12 p.m. participants will join hands for 15 minutes, as a united front against offshore drilling and other industries negatively impacting coastal environments and ecosystems across the world.
