According to a study by Project: Time Off1, Americans left 662 million vacation days on the table in 2016. That’s equal to $66.4 billion in benefits forfeited, or $604 annually per employee. Reclaim that cash and take a vacation!
Not only have you earned this time by being a loyal and hardworking employee, but taking vacations can actually make you more productive at work. This study also showed that employees who grind it out at work experienced more stress at home (48% to 41%) and at work (73% to 68%) than those who took sanity breaks. They are also less likely to be promoted (23% to 27%) and to receive pay raises (78% to 84%).
But do we as Americans find vacations to be unimportant to our lives? Quite the contrary! 92% of employees say vacation time is important to them. So what are you waiting for? Pack a bag, gas up the car, and head out on an adventure!
