Three local Outer Banks photographers are on display at The Gallery at Roanoke Island Festival Park. The exhibit of weather and sky photography showcases the beauty of the Outer Banks from the ground up. Photos are available for viewing at the Gallery at Roanoke Island Festival Park, Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. August 1 through August 30. Prints are available for purchase at the gallery as well. Check out the video below.

Michel Halminski, an Outer Banks resident for over 30 years, began photographing the beaches, waters and forests of the Atlantic maritime environment when he moved to Hatteras Island. His work has appeared in numerous publications including Newsweek, the Washington Post, Southern Living and the Christian Science Monitor. Most of his work is shot on Hatteras Island, Halminski worked for two winters as an oysterman on a sailing skipjack in the Chesapeake Bay, where he compiled a pictorial record of this vanishing industry.

Ray Matthews, an Outer Banks residents for over 30 years, loves to photograph the dramatic weather and subtle beauty of the barrier islands. Growing up near Elizabeth City, Matthews makes a living with commerical photography and spends his down time exploring and photographing the majestic views of the Outer Banks.

Eve Turek, an Outer Banks local for over 30 years, enjoys sharing stories through the lens of her camera. Eve is a member of the North American Nature Photographers Association, the Carolinas Nature Photographers Association, the Dare and Currituck County Arts Council, the North American Association for Environmental Education and Environmental Educators of NC and owns the Yellowhouse Gallery in Nags Head.
