Lost Colony gets pinked!

Join the cast and crew of the 73rd anniversary season of The Lost Colony for Dare Faire Wednesday, August 18th at Fort Raleigh National Historic Site on Roanoke Island. Attendees are encouraged to stay for the special evening performance of The Lost Colony that features live infant actors as baby Virginia Dare.

This is also the final week of the 2010 season of The Lost Colony. Known as the nation’s longest-running symphonic dramas, millions have seen the compelling story that celebrates the 120 men, women and children who bravely established the first English settlement in the New World on Roanoke Island in 1587. The colony mysteriously vanished by 1590 and the fate of those first settlers remains a mystery and is one of America's most intriguing unsolved mysteries. The play The Lost Colony is truly unique to the Outer Banks and owes its success to the people of Roanoke Island who have cherished and nurtured the production from its start. So come celebrate Dare Faire and learn the history through music, literature and art!

Produced by the Roanoke Island Historical Association, the play has something the entire family can enjoy: lavish costumes, daring action, special effects, comedy, music and dance. Visitors will love the unique beauty and history of the open-air Waterside Theatre which located not far from where the ill-fated colonists were last seen. The Lost Colony is performed annually May through August, Monday through Saturday.
