A few ideas for next time...
Even the folks at Lexus have figured out that the Outer Banks is pretty darn special. Two lifestyle writers traded in the Hamptons for the OBX. They documented their North Carolina adventure, complete with a parasailing lesson, for Lexus Magazine's Road Trip series. The journalists received a nice crash course in livin' the Outer Banks way of life (in their sleek IS 350, of course). They visited the Wright Memorial, Jockey's Ridge, the Bodie Island Lighthouse, Roanoke Island and Ocracoke.

However, I do have a few suggestions for our journalist friends from Lexus, Darrell and Lynn. On your next Outer Banks getaway, be sure to...

#1 - Forego the hotel accommodations and experience a true Outer Banks beach cottage...

  • Sit on a wrap-around oceanfront deck with some North Carolina sweet tea (or something stronger) and watch for dolphins playing in the waves.
  • Take a dip in your private pool or head to the hot tub to unwind after a long day of playing in the waves.
  • Prepare some fresh NC seafood in your vacation home's spacious kitchen.
  • Decide whether to shoot some pool in the gameroom or watch a movie in the theater room.
  • In the evening, retire to the comfortable master suite to relax.

#2 - Go fishin'! Our buddies from Lexus Magazine should cast their lines from the beach, head to a pier or book a charter fishing trip. Outer Banks fishing just shouldn't be missed; it's like going to New York City and not shopping!

#3 - Eat some NC BBQ! Need I say more?

We hope to welcome the Lexus folks back to the beautiful Outer Banks soon. More importantly, we hope to welcome you and your family back in 2010! Sunny summer beach days will be here before you know it. Until then, stay in an OBX state of mind.
