Head over to the Wright Brothers Memorial in Kill Devil Hills on Monday, April 16, 2012 for a special celebration of Wilbur Wright’s 145th Birthday. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the whole day will be filled with family friendly events. Admission fees will be waived on the day of the event. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Junior Flight Ranger Program: Make sure the kids pick up their Junior Ranger booklet at the visitor center information desk. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Let’s Go Fly a Kite: Free kite building and kite flying demonstrations by Kitty Hawk Kites at the Centennial Pavilion and park grounds. (Please allow 45 minutes for this activity.) 11 a.m. Fun in Flight: A family activity designed for the kids. Experience the fun of building a gliding machine. Design and construct a paper airplane and test the winds of the Outer Banks. (Please allow 30 minutes for this activity.) 12 p.m. Flight Room Talk: Learn how the Wright Brothers solved the problems of human flight as a park ranger tells the story of their triumph at Kitty Hawk.
