The 6th Annual Day at the Docks will be this Saturday, September 18, on the waterfront at Hatteras Village. The celebration of Outer Banks Hatteras Island culture and heritage brings together island families, vacationers and locals.

The festivities will begin at 10 a.m. with the release of white doves over the harbor. The event will conclude with live music and dancing at 9 p.m.

Throughout the day, the harbor will be busy with activities to delight any age. Activities include a children’s crab race, live outer banks seafood cooking lessons and demonstrations, a mullet toss, net hanging competitions, a chowder cook-off, the concrete Marlin competition, live music, marsh net exploration, a parade of boats and many more. The Blessing of the Fleet will be performed at 6:45 p.m. The Blessing of the Fleet includes the memorial wreath, which will be placed overboard in honor of the watermen who “passed the bar” this year with special remembrance of Hamilton Gray, one of our young watermen, whose mother and  grandmother donated the wreath in loving memory of him.

Come join us this Saturday, for a fun filled day full of activities for everyone celebrating the heritage and culture of the Outer Banks and Hatteras Island at the 6th Annual Day at the Docks.
